New Fare Collection System
FREEDOM describes PATCO’s new fare collection system. A state of the art computer system links together new Smart Cards and Paper Tickets, new Vending Machines, new Entry/Exit Gates, and new Parking Gates to offer PATCO customers flexibility and convenience.
New Automated Vending Machines and electronic transactions will replace bill changers, cashiers, and mail orders.

 FREEDOM Smart Card
A tiny computer chip and mini-antenna make this credit-card sized, stored value smart card a BIG help to our frequent PATCO riders. This one extended-use fare media works both for trains and paid (gated) parking. No more coins, no more tickets. Just tap your FREEDOM card at the gate and go! |

Limited use magnetic stripe tickets make travel easy for occasional riders.

| Among the many benefits of using PATCO’s new FREEDOM card are Autoload and Balance Protection. Both of these options will require customers to register their smart cards with PATCO and to provide certain information to PATCO, but upon making this selection, customers will have an added measure of protection and convenience. |

Automated Vending Machines
New Automated Vending Machines are being installed at each PATCO station. You'll be able to purchase a new Smart Card, as well as add value to an existing Smart Card using cash, debit or credit card (VISA or MasterCard).
Occasional riders will be able to purchase one and two-ride Paper Tickets for cash from AVM's. No need to stop for coins. The same AVM even sells a discounted SEPTA ticket.

Just touch your Smart Card on the target or insert a Paper Ticket in the slot to enter & exit. Fast & Easy!

New Parking Gates
Touch your Smart Card on the target to park in premium lots between 5 and 10 a.m. – no more coins at the gate! (The majority of PATCO parking will remain free). No more treadles either!
