DRPA AND PATCO Receive High Marks Following Federal Transit Administration Review

The Delaware River Port Authority and PATCO have received a nearly perfect review following two days of intense scrutiny by an FTA compliance reviewer. 

22 areas of compliance were reviewed and the Authority received perfect scores in 21 of those areas.   

Areas reviewed include Finance, Maintenance, Project Planning, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, Safety and Security, Maintaining a Drug-Free Workplace and Equal Employment Opportunity Requirements.  The reviewer found one weakness and that was in the technical area such as providing sufficient reporting detail about schedules and projects and contracts within individual FTA grants.  The average number of weaknesses is between three and five per review.

All agencies receiving Federal Transit Money must undergo an FTA review every three years.

The hearing officer praised the Authority for its excellent preparation in advance of the review.

DRPA CEO and PATCO President, John J. Matheussen said “the successful FTA review is a credit to the dedicated men and women who make PATCO one of the most reliable and efficient commuter rail lines in the country.” 

The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency.  DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, PATCO and the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal.  The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
