PATCO Forms Partnership With Google Transit

 There’s an old saying in New Jersey “you can’t get there from here.”  Not anymore.  Directions on using PATCO along with New Jersey Transit and SEPTA to get to where you want to go are now just a mouse click away.  PATCO’s partnership with the world-renowned, highly utilized Google expands its visibility beyond the region making PATCO schedule information accessible to visitors to the region from around the world through Google Transit.  For non-users of transit, it takes the mystery out of traveling on public transportation providing an easy way to plan your trip on PATCO, including transit connections.

A link can be found on the PATCO website, www.ridepatco.org or through www.google.com/transit.  The service can also be accessed on Google Maps via Desktop computer or web-enabled cell phone.  Users can simply enter a starting location and destination in Google Maps to get directions, and click on the “public transit” icon at the top of the screen to see suggested routes and times. There is no cost to use the Google Transit trip planning tool. 

PATCO President, John J. Matheussen, says “this is just another way to use technology to make transit easier for our customers.  It also provides our customer service representatives with information to help PATCO passengers who are planning multimodal trips.”

According to PATCO General Manager, Bob Box, “riders will not need to sort through timetables.  They can simply enter the date and time they hope to arrive at their destination and the trip planner will provide options showing the amount of time and number of transfers for each option.”
 
PATCO Assistant General Manager, Cheryl Spicer, points out “this service along with Google Maps provide walking directions so our customers can find out exactly how to get to the nearest transit stop or station and how to get to their destination once they leave the train or bus.”

The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency.  DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, and PATCO.  The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
