Southern New Jersey Transit Expansion

PATCO is currently evaluating the need and potential for expanded rapid transit service to Gloucester, Camden, Cumberland and portions of Atlantic and Salem counties. This is a continuation of a previous feasibility study completed in 2005 which strongly endorsed pursuing increased rail transit options in this corridor to address transportation and mobility needs.

Philadelphia Waterfront Transit Expansion Alternatives

PATCO is evaluating alternatives to expand transit services along Philadelphia’s Waterfront. The alternatives are being evaluated as part of an Alternatives Analysis, the first step in the Federal Transit Administration’s Planning Process. This Alternatives Analysis was preceded by the Southern New Jersey to Philadelphia Transit Study (October 2005) which strongly recommended increased rail transit in this corridor.

Southern New Jersey to Philadelphia Mass Transit Expansion Study

The Southern New Jersey to Philadelphia Transit Study assesses the need and a consensus for expanded rapid transit service for a growing congested corridor between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the outlying communities of Southern New Jersey. The study also analyzes the general feasibility of several potential transit investments.

Green Ports Initiative

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, the Delaware River Port Authority today took a major step toward making the ports in South Jersey and Philadelphia more environmentally friendly. The agreement solidified a partnership among DRPA and port agencies South Jersey Port Corporation (SJPC) and the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA) to launch a “Green Ports” initiative.

Ben Franklin Bridge West Side Traffic Study

The goal of the Ben Franklin Bridge West Side Traffic Mitigation Study is the development of an Implementation Plan for the deployment of short-term and long-term future projects designed to ease congestion during the morning commute. These projects will be developed using criteria related to: community impact and public input; construction costs and available funding; the level of environmental clearance required; and other project related constraints and impacts.
