If you are instructed to evacuate:

TUNNEL EMERGENCY EXITS
In the tunnel look for EXIT signs to access the platform or stairs directly to the street. Subway exits are color coded with blue lights and green EXIT signs. Platforms can be accessed via stairs or ladders from track area.

DOORS BETWEEN CARS
Doors between cars allow for movement through the train.
END DOORS
Doors of each rail car allow for evacuation of train.
WINDOWS
Windows are removable as a LAST resort. Kick at lower corner of window to remove rubber stripping.
USE CAUTION
Be cautious when exiting the train. Exit away from the third rail and other tracks. The third rail provides high-voltage electrical current to operate the train. The third rail can be identified by its protective white covering.

Be Prepared

Develop an alternate plan to get home in the event that train service is suspended.

  • Have important phone numbers with you
  • Have cash or ATM card with you

Use SEPTA, NJ Transit, Taxi Cabs and walking as other means of getting home.
