The Port Authority Transportation Company (PATCO) was honored for its Way Interlocking and Subway Structure Rehabilitation Project.
Railway Track and Structures magazine named the project one of the nation’s best rail projects for 2022.
The rehabilitation of the 3,800-ft double-tracked Camden Subway tunnel presented multiple challenges in the logistical approach to completing the project and maintaining 24/7 rail service for passengers.
The $14.3M project included replacing the existing double-crossing at Way, as well as structural and circuitry improvements.
Over 9,500 square feet of concrete spalling and surface breakout throughout the tunnel was identified and repaired, as well as 2,200 linear feet of concrete crack injection.
The project, which began in October of 2020, was completed on time and within budget.
