The next time you drive across the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry or Betsy Ross Bridge, don’t be surprised to see a toll collector wearing either red or a Phillies Jersey instead of the normal uniform. It’s all part of an Authority wide effort to root the Phillies home to another World Series Championship beginning Friday, October 16. PATCO employees as well as those at One Port Center in Camden will also be sporting Phillies Red as baseball’s post season continues.
DRPA CEO and PATCO President, John J. Matheussen says “the Authority developed a bad case of Phillies Fever last year but it was finally cured with a World Series Victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. We hope for the same remedy this year, another World Series Championship for the Phillies.”
The Authority has also placed a banner on the East face of the New Jersey tower of the Ben Franklin Bridge urging the Phillies on to victory.
The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, PATCO and the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal. The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
