Statement Regarding PATCO Power Outage

This morning PATCO experienced an electrical problem that resulted in a power outage suspending all train service for approximately an hour and a half. PATCO apologizes to its riders for the inconvenience this outage caused. The source of the outage was due to a series of electrical problems which lengthened the time of recovery.

Additionally, PATCO’s e-Alert system was temporarily impacted by the outage which delayed delivery of notifications. 

PATCO is currently working on a major two year Power Cable and Pole Line Replacement project which will replace the existing wood poles with new fiberglass poles that will provide long term reliability of the system, preventing occurrences such as the one that happened today.

We thank NJ Transit who worked with us to provide transportation to our PATCO riders. We also thank PSE&G for their assistance this morning.

PATCO was restored to normal service as of 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 30.
