PATCO recognizes the significant inconvenience caused by closing Woodcrest Station on Wednesday morning, February 7, and thought it appropriate to follow through with an explanation as to how it occurred. Thanks to the vigilance of PATCO passengers just like you, we received information regarding a potential bomb threat in a container located adjacent to Woodcrest Station. Emergency response personnel were notified immediately, and the station was secured pending arrival and evaluation by experts. Safety, particularly for our passengers, is our first priority, and we are sorry for any inconvenience. In an effort to communicate with passengers, we disseminated information through a number of outlets. We alerted travel service companies which serve as resources for news media. We also spoke directly with KYW Radio regarding the closure of Woodcrest Station, and KYW announced the station closure repeatedly. We published a notice on our website regarding the temporary closure of the station. In addition, we issued a mass email notice to members of our Email Notification program to alert customers to the change in service and to the opportunity to take advantage of free parking made available at Ashland Station. We would encourage all PATCO customers to sign-up for our email notification service via www.ridepatco.org. Email notification is being enhanced to include alerts via cell phone, PDAs and pagers to reach even more customers with important information about PATCO service. Our website also announced the reopening of Woodcrest Station once the incident was cleared. Fortunately, it was determined to be nothing more than a false alarm. We recognize that no matter what efforts we make to communicate with our customers, regrettably at times people will be inconvenienced. Although we work very hard to avoid any disruption in service, safety must always be our priority. If any customer needs additional confirmation of delay for an employer, please call 856-772-6968. Thank you for riding PATCO.
