DRPA Seeks Four New Members of Citizens Advisory Committee

The DRPA Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) is looking for three residents of Southeastern Pennsylvania and one resident of Southern New Jersey to fill four recently vacated seats.

Ideal applicants are civic-minded people who routinely use the PATCO high-speed line, any DRPA bridge (Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross) or both.

“The CAC is looking for a few good stakeholders,” said DRPA CEO John J. Matheussen. “Members have an important advisory voice in the conduct of public business.  Committee recommendations are considered during our Board of Commissioners’ meetings.”

Established in a 2010 resolution introduced by Pennsylvania Auditor General and DRPA Commissioner Jack Wagner, the CAC works in cooperation with the DRPA but is an independent, advisory body.   It comprises 24 members – 12 each from Pennsylvania and New Jersey – who represent DRPA toll-payers and PATCO passengers.

Each interested stakeholder must complete an application.  Applications are available for downloading at either http://www.drpa.org/ or http://www.ridepatco.org/.   They also are available at all four bridge administration buildings and at all PATCO stations.

Applications for the four open, unpaid positions should be mailed to the DRPA (P.O. Box 1949, Camden, NJ  08101-1949) by 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16.  Eligible applicants may not be related to DRPA commissioners, officers or employees. Vendors and employees of companies that conduct business with the DRPA or PATCO also are ineligible.

The names of eligible applicants who are not selected to fill the four open CAC seats will be retained for future consideration when committee vacancies occur.  Because vacancies occur periodically, the DRPA accepts applications year-round from people interested in serving on the CAC.
