New Elevator to Open Monday Morning at Ferry Ave. PATCO Station
CAMDEN, N.J. – PATCO will open a new elevator on Monday morning at its Ferry Avenue commuter rail station.
The completed elevator is part of a $22 million program to make PATCO stations more accessible to more people. All PATCO stations are scheduled to be equipped with elevators by 2017.
“The new elevator will improve the customer experience for all PATCO passengers.” said General Manager John Rink. “Over the next four years, we will be building elevators in all PATCO stations that aren’t already equipped with them. The Ferry Avenue launch is a sign of good things to come.”
The Ferry Avenue elevator cost slightly more than $1.57 million to construct. The Federal Transportation Administration provided 80 percent of the funding.
In July, PATCO plans to open two more elevators at its 9th&10th/ Locust Street Station in Philadelphia.
