The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) and The Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) announced a partnership with The Haddonfield Symphony to create an unforgettable occasion, bringing riders and music lovers to an event at the Gordon Theater in Camden, via PATCO. On Wednesday, September 5th at 10:15 a.m., invitees will board designated PATCO Music in Motion trains at the Haddonfield Station for a live concert where members of the orchestra will play for guests as they travel to City Hall Station in route to the Gordon Theater in Camden. “The Music in Motion event is a true testament to how public transportation helps link riders to everything the South Jersey and Greater Philadelphia area has to offer,” said John J. Matheussen, Chief Executive Officer of DRPA and President of PATCO. “This is an example of how transit and the arts work together for the benefit of the PATCO traveling public and we are pleased to continue our partnership with the Haddonfield Symphony with this event.” PATCO is pleased to be a part of this cooperative arrangement between Haddonfield Symphony and Rutgers University to provide an easy shuttle bus connection from City Hall Station to each performance at the Gordon Theater. Additionally, the September 5th event will unveil the Haddonfield Symphony’s new name. The change is part of an evolution that is keeping the Symphony fresh even in its 55th season, which opens October 6. Nationally recognized as a training ground for up-and-coming artists, the Symphony will continue its tradition with a moniker that better reflects its location and style. Symphony leaders are keeping mum about the actual name, saying only that it is “light” compared to “staid” and it represents the organization's new home in Camden. Symphony leaders and artists will make their announcement amid lively fanfare, with music that hints at the new name. The event starts in the organization's roots in Haddonfield and progresses to Camden, where the Symphony has been performing for the past year at the Walter K. Gordon Theater on the Rutgers University Camden Campus. The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation and development agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges, PATCO, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal at Pier 1 and the RiverLink Ferry.
