PATCO, together with transit agencies across the nation, will simultaneously sound their vehicle’s horns at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 to honor and say thank you to all heroic transportation employees across the United States who continue to work on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The coordinated effort, ‘Sound The Horn,’ recognizes transit workers who continue to provide critical service for healthcare workers, first responders, childcare workers, grocery store employees and other heroes who are performing critically essential work during COVID-19.
“Without hesitation, PATCO employees stepped up to the challenge to provide 24/7 essential transportation for fellow real-life heroes during this pandemic,” said PATCO General Manager John Rink. “The pride that I have in the PATCO team is impossible to put into words. The ‘Sound The Horn’ campaign is a simple yet powerful gesture to say thank you to those providing vital public services.”
The first ‘Sound The Horn’ event was held on April 17 with nearly 150 public transit systems participating.
