The Delaware River Port Authority’s Public Safety Department is hosting a site visit for the New Jersey State Police’s Target Hardening Response and Emergency Activation Team (T.H.R.E.A.T.) on Tuesday, February 5 at two PATCO stations. T.H.R.E.A.T. will be at Lindenwold Station from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and at Broadway Station in Camden at the Walter Rand Transportation Center from 8 to 9 a.m. to educate the public about the security program. T.H.R.E.A.T. is a public awareness program that encourages the public to work with law enforcement to maintain the highest possible level of safety. The T.H.R.E.A.T. program advises the public to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity through a toll free tip line at 1- (866) 4-SAFE-NJ. As part of the effort to publicize the program, T.H.R.E.A.T. team members will distribute leaflets and be available to discuss the program with interested PATCO riders. In the past, the team has visited several venues throughout the state. Tomorrow’s visit will mark T.H.R.E.A.T.’s fifth visit to PATCO. “In today’s world, security is a top priority for all. The formation of programs such as T.H.R.E.A.T. show the effort that Public Safety officials are making to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” said DRPA’s Chief Executive Officer and PATCO President John J. Matheussen. “We are happy to be working with the State Police to help them introduce the program to PATCO riders.” The T.H.R.E.A.T. program is similar to PATCO’s Transit Watch program, which encourages the active participation of transit passengers and employees working together to maintain a safe transit environment. The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross bridges, PATCO, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal and the RiverLink Ferry.
