As part of their training, a dozen crisis canines recently took a ride on a PATCO train to get them acclimated to various public transportation conditions.
The pups and their handlers boarded a train in New Jersey and made their way to Philadelphia.
Before the crisis canines can travel on deployments, they must pass rigorous tests to demonstrate their tolerance of varying public transportation conditions and their obedience to remain calmly under seats for the trip’s duration.
Every aspect of the trip is intended to help further the puppies' socialization. The puppies had the opportunity to be exposed to travel situations and various sights and sounds.
When fully trained, the puppies will be able to assist during various crisis situations.
The puppies are part of the Tri-State K-9 Crisis Response Team based in Cherry Hill, N.J.
