DRPA & PATCO Get Phillies Fever

With Phillies Fever reaching epidemic proportions in the Delaware Valley, the Delaware River Port Authority has come down with the fever as well. As a result, the DRPA is making its facilities Phillies friendly. Banners are being placed on the west side of the Walt Whitman Bridge and westbound on the Ben Franklin Bridge cheering on the Phillies in the World Series. Toll collectors at the Walt Whitman Bridge can also be seen proudly wearing Phillies hats. Many are also sporting Phillies Jerseys as well. The Ben Franklin Bridge is also putting on its Phillies uniform and the bridge will have red and white lighting on the days of the Phillies World Series home games. Fans are encouraged to ride PATCO to the World Series. This weekend the South Philadelphia Sports Complex will be a busy place. The Flyers and Eagles both play home games and there will also be two concerts this weekend. To avoid the hassles of long lines, those going to sports complex can purchase a discount roundtrip SEPTA transfer for $2.40 at the beginning of their trip. The transfers are available at all New Jersey PATCO stations. Just exit PATCO at the 12th/13th and Locust Street station and transfer to SEPTA’s Broad Street Subway Line. Posters congratulating the Phillies as well as helping fans make their way to Citizens Bank Park are also in the PATCO stations. Click here for SEPTA information. DRPA CEO, John J. Matheussen, says “Phillies Fever needs to be treated quickly. The only known cure is victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series.” The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, and PATCO, the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal and the RiverLink Ferry.
