Philabundance’s “Fresh For All” provides access to fresh produce in Lindenwold community
Fresh For All (FFA), a program that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly to people in areas with limited access to these essential foods, is opening its second location in Camden County and partnering with PATCO in Lindenwold as part of the roll out of Philabundance’s Emergency Relief Initiative (ERI).
Beginning July 25, Philabundance will open a new Fresh For All site in Lindenwold, at the PATCO Lindenwold Station, parking lot #1. This site will distribute food every Saturday from 1:30-2:30pm.
Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization, recently began rolling out its Emergency Relief Initiative in a major step to improve the access the community has to emergency food primarily through a new Food Help Line, 800-319-Food and Emergency Food Boxes (EBox), while increasing the amount of food going into the community through new and expanded programs like Fresh For All.
Currently there is a Fresh For All site at the St. John’s Baptist Church located at 400 N. 30th Street in Camden every Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Camden FFA has distributed 275,295 pounds of food since it opened in February 2008, and is serving 1751 households, comprised of 6013 individuals. FFA delivers seven pounds of food primarily made up of fresh, fruits and vegetables to every person in a household in areas that have limited access to these fundamental food groups every week.
“The new Fresh For All site in Lindenwold will improve the access to food for those in need in Camden County,” said Kelly Hile, program manager, Direct Service at Philabundance. “Philabundance has expanded our services through ERI to help support more people who are struggling during these difficult times.”
“By partnering with Philabundance in this worthwhile endeavor we can help people in these challenging economic times,” says PATCO President, J. Matheussen.
“There is ample space available at Lindenwold on a Saturday afternoon so that we can both provide parking for our customers as well as a location for the Philabundance initiative,” adds PATCO General Manager, Bob Box.
Philabundance is actively seeking volunteers to help Fresh For All succeed. Though times vary by location, each distribution requires 2 hours and 10-15 volunteers.
