DRPA CEO, John J. Matheussen, points out the Authority has a “Go Green” mindset which is practiced on a daily basis. Matheussen says “whether it’s think before you print, going paperless when possible, or a major overhaul of the Authority’s fleet program, the DRPA constantly works to reduce its carbon footprint by making our operations more environmentally friendly.”
The Authority’s Fleet Management Program continues to benefit the environment and has resulted in significant budgetary savings of an estimated $1.2 million. The program is part of the Authority’s efforts to “Go Green” resulting in a more efficient assignment and maintenance of vehicles. Consolidation efforts in the Fleet Management Program have resulted in 57 fewer vehicles, smaller vehicles and the use of hybrids. There has also been a significant reduction in Authority fuel consumption. The program has also resulted in a reduction of vehicle emissions.
The Delaware River Port Authority is a regional transportation agency. DRPA owns and operates the Benjamin Franklin, Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry and Betsy Ross Bridges, and PATCO. The DRPA also owns the RiverLink Ferry.
