Eastbound train departures modified to accommodate final phase of rail infrastructure upgrade
LINDENWOLD, NJ -- A new PATCO schedule will go into effect on Saturday, August 5. The new schedule contains minor adjustments to eastbound departures from 15th/16th and Locust to allow the completion of the second and final phase of an 8-week rail replacement project, which began July 8. The schedule allows westbound and eastbound trains to traverse the work area using a single track.
The train frequencies in the new schedule are the same as the previous schedule. However, the eastbound departures will now leave two minutes later, while the westbound departure times will remain the same.
August 5th Schedule at-a-glance:
The $6 million rail replacement project replaces nearly three miles of rail and other track material between the Ferry Avenue and Broadways Stations that has been in use since 1968. The project is being accomplished in two phases over a span of eight weeks this summer. The first phase, which involved reconstructing a 7,234-foot section of the eastbound track, was completed between July 7 and August 1. The second phase, which involves reconstructing the adjacent section of the westbound track, is currently underway and is expected to be finished by Labor Day.
After the final phase is completed, PATCO will return to its pre-construction schedule, which consists of 7-minute headways.
